During my research into Merlin Planterose and her several bodies of work, I noticed she is obsessed with texture. Polymer clay is one of my favourite materials to work with and it is so easy to collect impressions of different textures using it.

I created my own texture and repetition on this piece using a fork. The pinks and reds on the flesh-coloured polymer clay work successfully to simulate bruised and damaged skin.
